Darwinism is gut-bustingly funny

I heard a talk on evolution at Whitworth last week. It was pretty good. He talked more about Natural Selection, actually, also known as "survival of the fittest." He pointed out something we all sort of know but don't really consider: It isn't really SURVIVAL of the fittest, but REPRODUCTION of the fittest. You might be the smartest, quickest wombat out there, but if you don't reproduce, you don't pass it on. Dead end.

He didn't really differentiate between macro-evolution (descent of one species from another; descent of Bill Clinton from a slime mold (seems more believable in that context), and so on) and micro-evolution (variation and refinement within a species). However, in both cases, Natural Selection is taken to be the mechanism. The fittest individuals survive and presumably pass those traits on. Certainly, the less fit individuals, who do not survive, don't pass ANYTHING on.

This brought up a tremendous irony. Darwinian evolution is the lynchpin of the materialist, deterministic worldview. To put it simply, the whole secular humanist, man-is-the-measure-of-all-things, life-has-no-meaning, do-your-own-thing frame of mind is utterly dependent on there NOT being a God, on there NOT being absolute truth. Evolution, true or false, is the only game in town if you decide to do without God. Even if we came from space aliens, that doesn't solve anything for the materialist. Either God made the space aliens (problem) or the space aliens evolved (no problem).

OK, I want to take a look at the part of the world where determinism, based on Darwin, holds sway. But I'm going to look through the lens of Natural Selection. Europe, where this world view is totally dominant, is dying out. Literally. They are not reproducing themselves.  Look in the World Almanac projections of countries' populations on 2050. The Europeans are dying out.

In our country, where Evolution is believed by maybe half of the people, there is a very interesting dynamic. It has been observed lately that the Liberals/Democrats/Secularists, that is, very broadly speaking, the evolutionists, are going the way of Europe. The Conservatives/Repulicans/Evangelicals, that is, very broadly speaking, the creationists, are out-reproducing them about three to one. I heard, for example, that Ohio will be a solidly red state within 20 years just based on which voters are raising families and which voters are not.

Are you seeing the irony, here? Evolution selects against Darwinians! Their own theory is removing them from the race. Hoist by their own petard. This tells me two things. First, God has a terrific sense of humor. And second, that He indulges it mercilessly at the expense of His enemies.
